BEVAN’S SOCIALS.

I wasn’t complaining — I was advocating for women and children in crisis. During Estimates, I asked a simple question: what metrics and data does the Government actually need to see before it commits to a women’s shelter in Warren–Blackwood? That’s not “complaining”. That’s doing my job. I resent the suggestion that raising the concerns of vulnerable women and children is somehow a complaint. I’m trying to work with the Government to understand what evidence they require so we can finally secure the services our community desperately needs. Right now, women fleeing family and domestic violence are still being forced to travel 2 to 2.5 hours to access emergency accommodation and support. That is not good enough. The Minister acknowledged the advocacy and pressure coming from our region — and I’ll continue pushing because regional women deserve the same access to safety and support as anyone living in the city. This is about practical action, not politics. No woman fleeing violence should be left without support simply because of where she lives. #BevanListens #WarrenBlackwood #CommunityFirst #CareThatWorks #auspol
The Budget is handed down once a year. This week is when parliament gets to interrogate it. I’ll be in the chamber putting ministers on the record. Follow along live if you want to watch. I’ll put the link in my stories.

Semester one exams are on across Warren-Blackwood this week.

It’s a big moment, and you’ve put in the work to get here.

To the students: back yourself.
To the parents and teachers who’ve supported them: thank you.

WA has a $2.5 billion surplus. I’m standing here with a piggy bank because that’s about what Warren-Blackwood got from this Budget. No hospital upgrades. No high school expansion. No refuge for women fleeing violence. No new housing. No safer roads. Our communities power this state. We deserve better than this. #BevanListens #WarrenBlackwood #CommonSensePolitics #AskBevan #wapol

The State Government just announced $692 million for regional housing. Warren–Blackwood got zero. Seven cities were chosen: Bunbury, Kalgoorlie, Port Hedland, Karratha, Broome, Geraldton, Albany. Our communities, the ones driving tourism, agriculture and local jobs across the South West, weren’t on the list. That’s not an oversight. It’s a choice. In Margaret River, rental availability is below 1%. In Manjimup and Denmark, there’s a handful of properties between them. Local businesses can’t find staff. Essential workers, teachers, nurses, police, can’t find a place to live. A handful of houses here and there won’t fix years of underinvestment. You can’t grow regional WA without backing the regions properly. We’re doing the heavy lifting for this state’s economy. We’re being left off the map. The Premier needs to answer a simple question: why not here? If housing is affecting you or your business, I want to hear from you. #BevanListens #WarrenBlackwood #CommunityFirst #CommonSensePolitics #auspol

On Monday, I visited @cancercouncilwa‘s Crawford Lodge, which provides vital support for regional patients and families travelling to Perth for cancer treatment. Facilities like Crawford Lodge make a real difference for country families facing some of the toughest circumstances imaginable, helping ease the financial and emotional pressure that comes with long periods away from home. I’m now back in Parliament as sittings resume, preparing for tomorrow’s WA State Budget and taking a close look at what it means for Warren–Blackwood. As always, my focus will be on making sure our regional communities are heard, understood and properly represented, because country WA deserves its fair share and strong advocacy in Parliament.

$692 million for regional housing. Hundreds of homes announced yesterday under the “Seven Cities” plan. Warren–Blackwood missed out. We meet the government’s own criteria: Growing population. Workforce pressure. Housing demand. Still nothing for our region. That affects more than just rentals. It impacts workers, local businesses, and essential services right across our towns. We’re doing our part. We deserve our share. @rogercookmla, @johncareyperth and @dawsomlc need to explain this decision. Farming runs on seasons.
You don’t get to move the planting window.

Right now, potato growers in Warren–Blackwood should be locking in fertiliser for August and September planting.

But they can’t.

Orders aren’t being taken
Farming runs on seasons. You don’t get to move the planting window. Right now, potato growers in Warren–Blackwood should be locking in fertiliser for August and September planting. But they can’t. Orders aren’t being taken past May. That’s a real risk for local growers—and for WA’s food supply. I’m raising this with the government because the supply chain matters. Fuel got attention. Fertiliser needs it too. Warren–Blackwood feeds WA. We need to back the people who make that happen. I spoke with Stan Shaw on ABC South West last week about what’s happening on the ground. 🎙️ Catch the interview at the link in my story. If you’re dealing with this, let me know.
